Some artwork

Some things I have created/finised in past week:

I want to make a lot of these. at least 50. Maybe 100 And give them to a bunch of people.

Plays, Movies, bonfire, Halloween.

Reefer Madness was amazing. The maddness of dance, singing and outrageous scenes were hysterical. First act (w) just blew everyone's mind from what i have heard. Everyone really enjoyed it. Such a great time of laughter; here is just a list of things the play had:
Jesus
devil
angels
orgies
murder
cannibalism
sex of all kinds
smoking reefers
1930s costumes and such
Overall: one of the greatest plays i have seen at BC. Certainly top three. (I'll have to think of other really good ones, like Metamorphosis).

After the play, Michelle and I went to our friends Whitney's party where we saw lots of friends, and different costumes: Snooky, (one)-Night Stand, and some others, i didn't know the names of costumes.

Saturday:
Football game BC:16 vs Clemson:10, only i didn't see it, i was on my way to have an awesome weekend. Instead of going to the game, we went to see Michelle's Grandma first, and then went to the the Social Network. The movie was pretty good. Interesting and i very much enjoyed Jesse's character (Mark). Good movie to see if you have a facebook, but for the true whole story you'll need to read the book, Youngest Billionaire, i think is the name.

As the night got closer to 9pm, we ventured to Doug's. Bonn fire costumes were quite good: Killer Twin from Matrix 2 (with dreads), Lilu Dallas (From 5th Element), Gypsy, Banana in Pajamas, and others. Doug invited all sorts of interesting folk: people from France, Spain, Korea, Poland are here either to study for 1-2years or permanent move to better their lives. All in all, people were very interesting with different stories. One girl spoke 7 languages, and the girls from Poland spoke Russian, which was cool. Everybody had a good sense of humor and people got along well. Only one guy had injured his ankle, he had several descent purple bruises in the morning. (many people stayed over night). He'll be fine.
Around 12 we left the house and made out way to some delicious Breakfast (w) place "Toast of the Town". Great way to start the day.

Sunday, I am going to do a good amount of homework, including but not limited to Splash, AMC presentation, Physics hwk.
But now, I think I will go to Ceramics Studio and make some stuff.

La Actividad

Have you heard about Four loko? The name "Four' is derived from its four main ingredients, caffeine, taurine, guarana, and alcohol. People say its "bad". I say people are "bad". The drink is great for being actively drunk. (Think Red bull+vodka, jager-bombs)

Email recieved yesterday:
"Health Warning about Four Loko"
Dr. Thomas Nary

Many of you may have read or heard about the new canned drink, Four Loko, which approximates six shots of alcohol and five cups of coffee. It is not an “energy drink”. It is a dangerous concoction that can create a number of severe reactions, some of which have been life-threatening. We strongly recommend that the BC community avoid Loko and urge all friends to do the same.

Boston College Health Services
Thomas I. Nary M.D.
Director, University Health Services
Boston College

This will just encourage people to get it. With how much encouragement goes into BC Football games tailgating (a huge part of which is drinking) and overall how much college students drink, telling them that Four Loko is alcohol+energy is just bad... In this case, ignorance is a bliss. But alas, BC had spread the news. That's why my roommate's and I will surely get us some Four Loko. Key word - MODERATION. (always)

Wednesday:
the weather was warm and made a bunch of people's days brighter as i spoke to them. Classes, n more classes, work and classes. No homework until Monday though.

Thursday
An fellow person i know (she has about 5 years over me, and tons of experience too)
asked to see and revise my resume, which i found to be a great idea. i trust her, and nobody really saw my resume yes, so having couple of eyes that have read tons of these 1sheets is quite helpful.
What i think about letting people read/evaluate my things? Constructive criticism is valuable. Very. I should not be thinking i know it all, especially if there are people working in a specific "field" who know more and dealt with more than i did. Why wouldn't you ask for help. Pride? Fuck pride.

Had lunch with Bobby, and it's always a pleasure to hear your fellow peers and their ideas about what I'm thinking about. We talked about hippopotamus and such. Hopefully meeting him again next Thursday, 12-1. I have been always drawn to "weird" people. Again, what is "normal"?..

After lunch, i enjoyed Victor's and Dav's company (W) who showed me a great spot on campus to relax and meditate, right near Bapst Library. Since it was really nice and windy, the weather was perfect to be out and enjoying the various constructions that are happening on our campus.

Thursday culminated with Michelle and I playing some raquette ball (after she prepared a delish chicken n rice) and later watching couple of episodes of Supernatural (new season).

Today, Friday Oct. 29th i had a meeting with my mentor. It's always great to share some ideas and current thoughts with him. Just a couple of weeks ago i thought i would tell him how excited i am about Peace Corp, but today we talked about other volunteer opportunities (i.e. Place Corp, see previous post) as well as many topics regarding teaching, children and young adults; what is important in life (balance between money and living/contributing to others); how your job that you get after graduation is not your final job, how friendships shift and the network of people you know. How people just change from year to year. I hope people are not the same their freshman year and their senior year at college. if that's the case, you "did" college all wrong.
He mentioned that Jesuits would be proud of me. I guess it is true, you are shaped by what surrounds you, and i am not an exception. only in my case, i just discover words and ways to implement my goals and dreams. Yes, my thoughts and morals changed. I want to be a teacher. But i also wanted to be a teacher when i was in 3rd grade. Before all the social brain washing happened.
That's what children are missing. Non-traditional ways of learning. How often we forbid and kill the dreams these young individuals? Progress is only made when someone does things "out of ordinary / against the current".

I actually do read a lot. Thinking how much blogs and information i read online every day, and add couple of books, along with a list of books i want to read. Go me :)

Things to do:
Get ready for Slash. Teaching "Not so secret art of Happiness" next Saturday.

Weekend:
Football game? I dunno if i want to go. We'll see. it starts at 12 and depending on what I'm doing tonight and how much sleep i will require may prevent me from pre-gaming before the game. We'll see. BC has been consistently losing their Football games. Not that i care, but i guess i do?
Bonn fire. Michelle's friend Doug is throwing some crazy Halloween party with a giant fire. He lives in a middle of forest and does these all the time. Costumes, good beer, and great company will all be present.
Michelle and I are also planing to see "The Social Network" either tomorrow (Sat.) or Sunday.

As with all plans, some work out, some don't. And its okay. That's life :)

Last Weeks news

I have to make sure to catch up to all the things that happened last week. (Oct. 19th-24th) IE:
~two midterms on Wednesday (which went.... horrible :))
~Wednesday night, my neighbor Kevin, who lives in the room across the hall had several interesting ideas about 5second films. Which he invited a bunch of friends and such to think about and participate and whatnot. Great idea. Hopefully it will manifest itself into a real video.
~ Thursday had an appointment with Subturri (BC yearbook pictures) but it was unsuccessful. Apparently you MUST have a tie+shirt in order to be taken a picture of...Fail. Now i have to scavenge for some shirt's n ties.
~Friday Physics class got cancelled, so i went to Ceramics and finished painting some of my pieces. I'm quite excited to see my other fired pieces and how they turned out.
~Friday was another Midterm.
~Also, on Friday, i decided to venture (W) with couple of my Off campus friends to a soccer game. They kept telling me i should join and now i know the reason why. It was AWESOME. People who care about soccer (which isn't many) get drunk and go scream at the refs, players, each other. it's such a passionate way to express yourself. Outstanding experience :) Must go again, whenever there is a game on Friday.
~Saturday i finally slept a whole bunch (turned my phone off). There was a foodball game BC vs MD. We lost. It was expected. i don't really care :)
~Later in a day, Michelle and I went to see "References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot" which was directed by our good friend Jacob (Shr-br-br). It was interesting, funny and unpredictable. Michelle said that main char (girl) is probably insane. Maybe.
~After the play we rushed to see some comedy show at O'Connell house. Free Fun? My favorite.
~Sunday seems like a blur, which means i was studying for another Midterm for Monday.

THIS WEEK (Whew, finally caught up)
Monday was a typical day at a typical life of a typical Boston College Senior. Except no drinking. I'm not super fan of that anymore as i mentioned earlier.
After work, i went to see a movie "Shaking Hands with the Devil" (IMDB here). It was a good way to rethink the Genocide and just remember all the things my solidarity trip group talked about and experienced in Uganda and Rwanda. (I went in January of 2010)
After the movie, i ventured to Ceramics studio and made "Hubert". He's a fat-guy-piggy bank. With a hat. and scarf. and tie. and monsters. three. and he has a fat belly. for coins. yes.

Tuesday (Today)
Ventured to Volunteer Fair today and saw like 40+ post graduate volunteering services. I am still thinking about Peace Corp, but there is this another program,
Place Corp, which is Catholic Education Program, that is 2year commitement, out of which you get a place to live, some paycheck and a master's degree. Hmmm. now that's a good catch.
Lots of things to think about. Meeting with my mentor on Friday to chit-chat about things.

Fun upcoming things:
"Reefer Madness" the play
Halloween party ( 99% sure there will be a huge bonfire party)
Haircut. (cutting lots of hair)

P.S. Greatest Halloween Costume Ever.

Le Sunday

Saturday Night, Art and I went to a casino i made some money at roulette, he made some at blackjack tables. It was all super fun until i got tired around 3.30am.

Sunday started again with some delicious breakfast and drinks. Perhaps some gambling here and there,

Did i mention we have a Buddha in our elevator lobby on our 27th floor?

In the afternoon we went to "Secret Garden" Saw snow tigers (and cubs), white lions, black panthers, surely dolphins and got Michelle a nice Art work of her name.

As the day went by, we saw some people and took some more pictures :)

Later that day we went to "Crazy Shirts" and i got one dyed in hemp.

The evening continued with drinking and relaxing, and getting ready to go to Rivera Comedy show he had planned to see. Only instead we got into some serious discussions about friendship and life. It actually rained a little bit while were there, which is kind of a big deal in Las Vegas. So the roads were slippery. One of us managed to fall down and broken her wrist. There was a lot of crying, and paramedics. It was my first time i remember being in a Ambulance. Got to hospital and hung out with Maya until she got x-rays etc. They drugged her with some morphine and something else to ease the pain. While all that was happening, Shawn, Art, and his parents had some food (no reason for everyone to sit and wait). They picked us up later and we drove to several 24hr Walgreens, although all their pharmacies were closed... Weird. We were quite hungry throughout the evening and got a dinner delivered to us into the room. With a table. I didn't take a picture.(W) I was really excited about food. Maya got a Burger with Fries, and i got beef lo mein. All the hotel's food services are 24/7 except sushi (until 11pm). The lady came, and brought us AMAZINGLY delicious food. This is how our Sunday ended.

Monday morning Shawn left super early (around 8am) and left some things here and there in the room, silly him. Art, Maya, and I went to get some food. This is where Art's macchiato happened.

I may be forgetting where we went/do afterwords. But We got some lunch at "Wazuzu" and sat down next to this dragoon.

Our food looked like this:

After lunch we went to the airport where Maya, Art, and his parents left on a 4.30pm plane while i waited for my 7pm. Bought a book, silly me. I mistaken B&N and Borders, thinking i had a gift card. i did, only not for this bookstore. I bought the book anyway. Who cares :)

Got back to Boston at 6am on Tuesday morning (first went to LA, cuz it was cheaper) and was on campus by around 8.30am. Only to have two labs, and study for two midterms for Wednesday. Which i did relatively sucky on. Doen't matter. It's all about priorities, and Las Vegas was a such.

The whole trip we were joking about Mike Tyson and his tiger.
We were on the look out for roofies and police cars to steal.
I'm glad i remember 90% of the weekend!

Viva Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Cont.

As mentioned earlier, the morning started nice and mellow with Soco Lime and other pleasantries :)
Around some time in the morning (i just don't remember, but before 10am) we went out for some breakfast. i ordered quiche. The restaurant was uber fancy, as with everything we encountered.

Each things has its own food. Also had some tea. Friends killed some coffee also. We were ready for the day.
Our afternoon trip was to Red Rock Canyon. It was somewhat hot, but not uncomfortable. We all made sure we have enough water (thanks to Art's dad, Rick)
Here are some pictures of how awesome of a time we had.

As we drove back, we saw tons of Wedding Chapels (some of which are Drive-Through), Pawn Shops, and fancy cafe.

We decided to walk around, see if we find Winston and just check out The Strip

Went Up, to Wallgreens, CVS, and eventually ended up in Rivera Hotel.
Gambling? Certainly. But we also wanted to get some comedy tickets for Sunday (since we had a show Saturday night, but nothing for Sunday) Comedy seemed like the right choice. Only we didn't purchase tickets and decided to come back later tomorrow. That didn't happen. The story of a broken wrist will be told in the next entry.

I lost my backpack while gambling/drinking. I just forgot it. I called up Shawn and together we ventured to the security desk. The guy was nice (asked me what color was my backpack, even though that was THE ONLY thing behind his counter). I was happy to reunite with my sack; it's been everywhere with me. To open my bag and see a treasure inside? Yes. It happened. I was rewarded with a hat, which i fell in love with immediately.
Everybody loves Ze hat. (the picture is of later Saturday, after "O")

The evening entertainment was brought up by "O", another great Cirque Du Soleil performance at the Bellagio. "An aquatic masterpiece of surrealism and theatrical romance". It was really awesome and there were some divers going into water from 100ft. Although i did enjoy "KA" more than "O". The story flow was better. Both shows are permanent, which means you can only see them in Las Vegas.

After the show we went outside, took some cool pictures of huge pumpkins, and went to BUFFET. Omg, wowzies, etc. I'm pretty sure i champed 5 plates although this may have been an over exaggeration. Crapes were amazing. I had four :)
Winston was with us the whole time, I'm pretty sure. How we met him is another story i can not recall completely.

Sunday craze will be uploaded soon :)

Vegas Weekend Extravaganza

About six or so months ago Art invited me to go to Las Vegas with him (and his parents) and two other friends Shawn and Maya. On which i responded "YES". Never been out West, and also why wouldn't i want to spend a weekend with friends having tons of fun?

Friday:
4.30am waking up. Leaving by 5am. (flight is at 6.30am) super rainy. Traffic. (a burning car or something?) I get there. Flight delayed. So i arrive at Newark later than expected, and get to Las Vegas at 1.20pm instead of 11.40am. Nothing terrible.

Taxi to Wynn Encore was $30. We stayed at Encore. HOLY SHIT. Super elite, crazy expensive everything. But on that later. Check out the website if interested :)

Our window view and the room:

That afternoon we went to Shark Reef. Among lots of sharks, and fish, there was a Komodo Dragon, Green Sawfish, Green Sea Turtle, which are all endangered. Ill put pictures later, when others will upload their pics.

For dinner we went to Emeril's and i ordered rabbit, and clam chowder. What an amazing meal. Corn bread they had = Best i have EVER had. I don't fancy corn bread too much, but this was beyond epic. Layers of flavor and smells and textures. Yepp, just cornbread. Rest of our meals from that moment on were exceptional.

The Friday night event (right after dinner) was "KA" by Cirque Du Soleil. stunning. Best live performance i have ever seen. If you ever get a chance, see any of other shows, but this one is mind-blowing. The action, the setting(!!) the story, the interaction. The final battle.

Best performance i have ever seen. Amazing.

Friday night was engulfed with happy thoughts, crazy plans, drinks everywhere, some gambling and utter confusion of how crazy the place was we were in.

Saturday: around 8.30am
Woke up, Shawn made a drink, and we both had one before brushing our teeth. I had taken his glasses to look cooler.

To be continued :)

Let the Week begin (Oct. 11th-17th)

Monday was another vegetarian day, which went quite well. Had good dinner with Stephanie G. We talked about distance relationships, feminism, and other things.
Also had a quick 5 min interview to help with someone's project. Foreign people are in demand to hear "ba/pa".
Wanted to paint or go to gym but didn't have time because i was a lazy bum.

Stumbled upon another great blog: Raptitude.com: Getting Better at being human. Sat in my room and read it for two hours while my roommate was trying to fall asleep.
The guy who wrote the blog suggested a book in his comments which i happily bought (not because I'm easily influenced, but because I'm quite interested in Buddhism):Buddhism Without Beliefs: A Contemporary Guide to Awakening written by Stephen Batchelor. It's a non-religious approach to Buddhism. Cost me $4.

Today, because our Physics Lab got cancelled (Columbus day = Monday = whole week of labs cancelled) I ventured to Ceramics Studio and made several water devices. One looks like a face.

Then went to Michelle's dorm for some delicious Pork Chops with roast tiny-tiny potatoes and corn on the cob. Super yummy. "Borrowed" some cookie dough ice cream while walking through the stadium for Michelle. She goes crazy for little things, so it's always fun to surprise her.

Later, BCSSH (Boston College Students for Sexual Health) had a quick meeting during which i aquired some condoms to distribute to anyone who is willing to stop by my dorm. It's cool to have safe sex. Promise.

Tomorrow I have an Info Session for Peace Corp. Gotta print out my Resume (also need to print out my Itinerary for Las Vegas, FRIDAY YAY.)

Got an email about Senior Week committee. They have some questions and I want to apply. We'll see how that goes.

These past couple of weeks have been quite pro-gay so here is a Great Youtube pro gay marriage video-link: FCKH8.com Straight Talk About Gay Marriage

Sunday is Fun day

Apple picking was lots of fun at Honey Pot Hill Orchards. Pictures should be coming relatively soon. Lots of tree climbing, apple tasting, hay-riding (tractor pulling), cider drinking, doughnut chewing, drive arounding, Chinese food eating (at the end). Saw bunch of farm animals, reminded me a lot about my childhood, when my grand parents had a farm in the village with all sorts of animals and plants.

after we got back, i didn't do much until 9pm when Michelle and i ventured to Vanderslice hall and made some "cool" decorated picture frames. I'll take a picture of them later to show.
Then We made couple of Sharlotkas . They looked something like that.

mmmm, Delish. Ate them while watching "28 days later".

Now its time to go to sleep. Tomorrow is Columbus day, but i still will go to work, and do some errands and some homework (hopefully).

Drinking is bAd, mkay.

Instead of stocking people on facebook i rather should upload my blog.

It has been a full week without Winston, but he did stop by real quick last night to give me a hug.

Friday i participated in FLASH MOB for a final NCOW event. Many people were wearing green support love t-shirts (which reminds me, i need to take a pic of me wearing a green one). For good 5min everyone was giving everyone hugs. Ahh what a great break between classes.

Finished reading "Smack" and started "The Catcher in the Rye". I never read it. i dont know yet if i will finish it, it takes a lot for me to finish the book, it just has to be good and appealing. i get bored easily.

As the title mentioned, drinking is bad. mkay? Ugh, i don't know how these college students do this every weekend. Last night Michelle and i went to three separate parties and pregamed beforehand. Met some great people, had awesome conversations and overall i had great time. Only to wake up today at 3pm. No appetite, and the attitude of a [hmm, ill come back to this one]. I guess i had a hangover. Stayed in bed, didn't have a great attitude toward the day. The first part of my Saturday was just a waste of time, until i felt better. Michelle made some delish dinner (beef with some crazy semi-spicy sauce, and fried rice with a bunch of veggies in it), but i didn't enjoy is as much. Although i had it again later, while we were tye-dying shirts and watching "The Green Mile", and it was way more tasty.

Also we saw "Top Girls" at Robsham Theatre. Though there were many scenes were actors would talk at the same time (all female cast, what can you do :)) i enjoyed the play more than anticipated. Some good character development and interesting dialogue . But confusing non the less.

Tomorrow Michelle and I are going Apple Picking somewhere, and hopefully making some apple pies later in the day. I think it will be fun. Couple of other people are going with us. Yay. Which means i will not go to parkour jam. Its okay. :)

Its 3.45am. Time to go to sleep.
Here is a video of water balloon fight in the Dustbowl, as a last fun so many students have had before it closed for two years. I talked about it here.

My feet are cold (the window is open) :)

Getting mentally prepared for Las Vegas next weekend. Seeing Art, Maya, Shawn. Should be tons of fun. I haven't thought yet about what to bring. Should I? Already emailed all my professors about missing classes Friday and Monday.

Columbus day makes this a three day weekend. Let us all remember what an awful person he was, and that he didn't really discover much of anything new.

I signed up for parkour group and they have been emailing me their times and days of meetings and such. Man i should go. Why not. At least to try, i think i can do some cool stuff. This Sat/Sun (only its like @ 10am). If im not super tired, i think i will go.

Finally got to play some Racqett ball with Michelle today, though i was a bit too mean. Gotta slap myself here and there for being a meanie :) Whenever one loses we usually work out (running or push-ups, i actually can do 5 one-hand push-ups, DAAAAAUM dzmitry) but this time Michelle suggested whoever loses three games buys the other person a drink next time we go out. I'm gonna get the most expensive drink on the menu :) (just kidding i don't even drink...)

Kicked my roommates butt today in Tekken 6. JEFFREY LIIIING.
Excited about Cataclysm (World of Warcraft expansion), i have been reading up on all tank stuff. I totally want a Goblin Warrior. I know, I know, i have always been against warriors, but they are actually making it fun to play. Only i will have to wait until I'm done with my finals at the end of December to play. Which is great because by then all crazy people will be already 15-20 levels higher and won't spawn-kill my boars.

NCOW (National Coming Out Week) is awesome, as usual. GLC had some great events this week. Bisexuality panel was good. The Heights covered it. Tomorrow is flash mob with hugging as many people as possible @ 12.55 (between classes when most people are around). There will be lots of people wearing green T-shirts. One today was super great: Opening Boston's Closet. Heard some great great stories. Just wondering when will our society correct itself about how to treat people, who are NOT different.

Had a wrap today for lunch... Stupid "Shuffle off to Buffalo". Too spicy. Not getting it again. My vegetarian days are going quite good. i don't think i slipped once. All i have to do is remember.

lots of fun things to do this Friday/Sat. Hopefully will be able to go partey. And later to blog about it.
Also need to start collecting photos that i want to print. There are some pretty great pics on Facebook that i want to keep.

Lunches:
Planning to get some food with Stephanie and Nick next week.

What is my body?

I think my big contribution to my relationship with my body occurred last semester when i was taking Physical Theatre. All the stretches we did, all the exercises. Later i found how great i felt, how great my body felt because of the things you do. Runners, swimmers, and other athletes will understand that your body is your machine, its part of you. Mind+body=you. *i do believe in mind OVER body, however*

I love food. many different kinds. i always try something new. With being vegetarian twice a week (Monday and Friday) i have discovered some vegetarian choices that i otherwise would've overlooked. because i love meat. and that's okay. But trust me, don't do/eat something you like for a semi-significant time and you realize how much you really love it. (i like driving, but i LOVE driving after not being able to do so for several months.)

Appreciation.

Often i consider food as a fuel for my body. Sure it may not taste super delicious (i DON'T eat food i can't tolerate) but i just think of it as a useful resource for my body; to keep it strong and healthy i eat vegetables. I have done several other food related experiments (1 month without chicken, and 2 separate 1-week of vegetarian only), but i think two days out of the week is a great balance, because i still have meat in my diet regularly, just not every single day.

---- ---- ---- ----
On other notes:
finally dyed my hair green (the front and the back, not center... weirdo...)
My agore pic was this before.

Also had late night tea with Alvic, we chatted about things. good stuff.
I signed up for Subturri yearbook picture.
Also painted some today while watching "Get him to the Greek" and eating pistachios

Things i need to keep in mind:
Next Friday is Las Vegas Day, so I'll need to ask some people around who have a car on campus, who would be willing to drive me to Logan super early in the morning. Surely there will be cash prize money.

In 2007, when i was in OTE (Option through Education) i entered an oratorical contest and actually won 1st place and got myself some bookstore money.

ND football game and others.

We lost. Big time. 13 31. ND destroyed us. They're better. I don't mind, i had good time. Hung out with my Asian roommates again, pre-gamed with some White Russians (vanilla vodka, coffee liquor and milk). Thought of Kari all day because of that :) Hope they're doing good.

Saw "The Town" with Michelle, Whitney and Jon. Despide Ben Affleck being in it, directed it, and wrote it, it wasn't half bad. Michelle and Whitney were super tense during some scenes. There were these super old ladies who also watched the movie, and the exited first from the theatre, and EVERYONE was behind them. old ladies move slow, you know. uber slow. I hope i will become this old one day :)

Michelle and I made our own t'shirts in O'Connell house, despite how rainy it was on Friday. this is mine. Original and creative i thought. i good amount of people smiled at me when they saw it, while others gave disapproving looks.

also starting another interesting art project. Acorn sculpture. We'll see how it goes. I have some idea about what it should look like, but as with most artsy things i do, i creation is a process during which i discover new ideas and sometimes completely redo the original plan. I'm fine with that :)

I will dye my hair green today (partially, some in front, some in back, i think.)

Had lunch with Travis. Looking forward to some double dates :)
