"Health Warning about Four Loko"
Dr. Thomas Nary
Many of you may have read or heard about the new canned drink, Four Loko, which approximates six shots of alcohol and five cups of coffee. It is not an “energy drink”. It is a dangerous concoction that can create a number of severe reactions, some of which have been life-threatening. We strongly recommend that the BC community avoid Loko and urge all friends to do the same.

This will just encourage people to get it. With how much encouragement goes into BC Football games tailgating (a huge part of which is drinking) and overall how much college students drink, telling them that Four Loko is alcohol+energy is just bad... In this case, ignorance is a bliss. But alas, BC had spread the news. That's why my roommate's and I will surely get us some Four Loko. Key word - MODERATION. (always)
Wednesday:
the weather was warm and made a bunch of people's days brighter as i spoke to them. Classes, n more classes, work and classes. No homework until Monday though.
Thursday
An fellow person i know (she has about 5 years over me, and tons of experience too)
asked to see and revise my resume, which i found to be a great idea. i trust her, and nobody really saw my resume yes, so having couple of eyes that have read tons of these 1sheets is quite helpful.
What i think about letting people read/evaluate my things? Constructive criticism is valuable. Very. I should not be thinking i know it all, especially if there are people working in a specific "field" who know more and dealt with more than i did. Why wouldn't you ask for help. Pride? Fuck pride.
Had lunch with Bobby, and it's always a pleasure to hear your fellow peers and their ideas about what I'm thinking about. We talked about hippopotamus and such. Hopefully meeting him again next Thursday, 12-1. I have been always drawn to "weird" people. Again, what is "normal"?..
After lunch, i enjoyed Victor's and Dav's company (W) who showed me a great spot on campus to relax and meditate, right near Bapst Library. Since it was really nice and windy, the weather was perfect to be out and enjoying the various constructions that are happening on our campus.
Thursday culminated with Michelle and I playing some raquette ball (after she prepared a delish chicken n rice) and later watching couple of episodes of Supernatural (new season).
Today, Friday Oct. 29th i had a meeting with my mentor. It's always great to share some ideas and current thoughts with him. Just a couple of weeks ago i thought i would tell him how excited i am about Peace Corp, but today we talked about other volunteer opportunities (i.e. Place Corp, see previous post) as well as many topics regarding teaching, children and young adults; what is important in life (balance between money and living/contributing to others); how your job that you get after graduation is not your final job, how friendships shift and the network of people you know. How people just change from year to year. I hope people are not the same their freshman year and their senior year at college. if that's the case, you "did" college all wrong.
He mentioned that Jesuits would be proud of me. I guess it is true, you are shaped by what surrounds you, and i am not an exception. only in my case, i just discover words and ways to implement my goals and dreams. Yes, my thoughts and morals changed. I want to be a teacher. But i also wanted to be a teacher when i was in 3rd grade. Before all the social brain washing happened.
That's what children are missing. Non-traditional ways of learning. How often we forbid and kill the dreams these young individuals? Progress is only made when someone does things "out of ordinary / against the current".
I actually do read a lot. Thinking how much blogs and information i read online every day, and add couple of books, along with a list of books i want to read. Go me :)
Things to do:
Get ready for Slash. Teaching "Not so secret art of Happiness" next Saturday.
Weekend:
Football game? I dunno if i want to go. We'll see. it starts at 12 and depending on what I'm doing tonight and how much sleep i will require may prevent me from pre-gaming before the game. We'll see. BC has been consistently losing their Football games. Not that i care, but i guess i do?
Bonn fire. Michelle's friend Doug is throwing some crazy Halloween party with a giant fire. He lives in a middle of forest and does these all the time. Costumes, good beer, and great company will all be present.
Michelle and I are also planing to see "The Social Network" either tomorrow (Sat.) or Sunday.
As with all plans, some work out, some don't.
